Door Controls

Door closers maintain the integrity of fire doors along exit routes in buildings used by the general public. In addition, the self-closing function offered by door closers provides an important level of security for external doors.

ASSA ABLOY offers a comprehensive range of door controls for architectural specification.  The range includes overhead closers, floor springs, transom closers and concealed closers, as well as a range of electro-mechanical fire door control systems.  This ensures that there is a closer available for just about every application.

Effective door closer installation requires that the door and frame be of sufficient strength or reinforced to ensure secure anchorage of the door closer unit.  UNION hydraulic door controls are manufactured to exacting standards and are recognised for their quality, efficiency and reliable performance.

Functions and Features
Certain door closer models have fixed power eg EN2, while other, higher specification models, have adjustable power sizing eg EN3-5.

UNION door closers have dual speed control:

• Sweep control:  an adjustable valve controls the speed of closing from maximum opening to 15 degrees.
• Latch control:  controls the speed of closing from 0 to 15 degrees.

The latter is achieved either by means of an adjustable valve (units described as having two speed control valves) or by adjusting the length of the door closer arm (units described as having a single speed control valve).

The backcheck provides an adjustable cushioning effect when the door is thrown open.  Whereas, delayed closing provides an adjustable time delay in the closing cycle of the door allowing the disabled, elderly or trolleys to pass through the door unhindered.

All UNION door control units are non-handed.  Note that single action floor spring fittings are handed.
